Tuesday morning we left our hotel in Tiberius bound for Jericho, and ultimately Jerusalem. We drove along the Jordan River which is the boundary with Jordan. We had an unplanned opportunity to go to a spot on the banks of the Jordan where we could see people on the Jordanian side. To get that close to Jordan, however, we had to drive through a military zone where landmines were being taken out (due to better relations with Jordan). This is where we had morning devotions. We also enjoyed talking with the Israeli border guards who spoke Russian!
As we continued down Highway 90, the landscape drastically changed. Instead of the green hills of the north, we were now in the wilderness. Jericho is located in the West Bank territory of Palestine. Because of an agreement, our tour guide could not go with us there, so we had a new guide for two hours named Ibraham. We all noticed a different feel in this area, where we saw the traditional site where Jesus was tempted on a mountain, and ate lunch.
We were all very thankful to see David again and the next place we went was where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. We ended the day swimming...er... floating in the Dead Sea! We arrived safely to our hotel in Jerusalem.
